Information You Submit
Names, phone numbers, or addresses entered into a search form are sent to the third-party provider that operates the results. Our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. A direct message gives us only the information included in that message, which we use to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Hosting systems may log an IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. We use aggregate information to maintain the service and understand broad page use. Cookies or similar tools can support basic measurement and, where offered, advertising measurement.
How Limited Data Is Used
Limited data helps operate the reference, fix faults, measure traffic, and improve its pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create profiles of individual visitors.
Links to Other Websites
We link out to county and state records portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Their privacy policies, not ours, govern what you submit there. That is especially true of the sponsored search results, which a third-party company provides.
Who Might See Your Data
The service providers that host and support the site process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose data when a valid legal process requires it, and not otherwise.
How We Protect Your Data
The site runs over an encrypted connection and logs are kept only as long as the purposes above need them. There are no accounts here, so no password or profile of yours exists on this site to be exposed.
Users Under 18
The site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Information Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data that a service keeps. Because this reference retains very little, requests are usually limited to the contact mailbox and applicable server logs. Use the Contact page to ask. North Carolina public records held by state, county, or city custodians are outside our control, and a request about those records belongs with the office that holds them. North Carolina Public Records Act, Chapter 132, governs access to many agency-held records.
Policy Changes
Updates will appear here. Continued use after a posted change indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
